About the Company

'Intext Performance provides a range and quality of work for schools that no other theatre company delivers.' - Head Teacher, Lumley Junior School

Intext Performance's director and main performer is Chris Connaughton, an actor with twenty five years of experience in all forms of theatre, television and radio. He now writes and produces work for young audiences as well as being the author of the 'Beltheron' series of fantasy novels for 9 year olds and upwards.

This year Intext Performance is delighted to celebrate 14 years of high quality professional theatre and storytelling in schools. Since 1997 the company has produced 15 different story sessions mixing traditional tales and original writing, and 6 new plays based on classic texts. Many of these have been accompanied by literacy workshops. These link a number of curriculum areas. This year there is an added focus on raising boys' achievement in literacy, speaking and listening.

Intext has made over 2,200 school visits to a total audience of more than 195,000 children, teachers and parents.

In addition to touring nationally in the UK, Intext has performed at a number of international venues in France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Spain, Japan, China, Romania and South Korea.

Chris has just published his third novel. 'The Beltheron Darkness' is available to buy  here. He and his books will be featured in Nielsen Book Data's January 2012 newsletter.

Intext Performance has full Public Liability Insurance and enhanced CRB certification.

Intext Performance and Chris Connaughton's work appear in a new book by Gareth Armstrong, 'So You Want To Do A Solo Show?' Gareth is an actor, director and writer, most famous for regular appearances on 'The Archers'. You can link to Gareth's site to find out more.
